Owner Assistance

Do you need help with your Springer?

There are many reasons why pet owners sometimes find that they can no longer care for their pet. If you have become unable to keep you Springer, you may contact English Springer Rescue America for help.

In Georgia, contact Melissa Underwood or Sue Schroer.

In Alabama & Tampa Bay area of Florida, contact Susan Zuker.

In Mississippi & Louisiana, contact Sue Schroer.

In other states, please contact your state coordinator, which can be found on the ESRA National website Regional Rescue Coordinators.

ESRA is a national organization of volunteers dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of English Springer Spaniels in need. While we cannot help in all situations, we are often able to offer placement assistance for your Springer or provide help and advice that may enable you to keep your pet.

Please note that if you wish to relinquish your Springer to ESRA, this is a process that will require some help from you.

When you contact our owner assistance coordinator or one of our state coordinators, please let us know where you are located and provide us with a picture if possible, along with some basic information on your pet, such as color, weight and gender. You will be asked to complete a questionnaire regarding the health, vaccine status and temperament of your Springer. These questions are not designed to exclude your dog from our organization, but to enable us to help.

If you are considering giving up your Springer due to behavioral issues you are welcome to contact us for help. ESRA volunteers have a passion for and knowledge of this breed in particular, and may well be able to provide training suggestions and referrals that may enable you to keep your dog.

For training assistance, please see our ‘Dog Training and Behavior’, ‘Positive Dog Trainer’ and ’Helpful Information for Dog Qwners’ links at the bottom of this page. Or contact one of our state coordinators, listed above or Phyllis Chan.

For additional helpful information,  see our national ESRA website: Help for Owners of English Springer Spaniels.
